Choosing a WPT Global cash table: Micro, Low, Mid and High stakes
The WPT Global cash game lobby has four stakes tabs at the top: Micro, Low, Mid and High, grouped by each table’s big blind in US dollars. Pick a game type first (NLHE, Short Deck, PLO, Pace and so on), then a stakes tab, and you’ll see the matching tables.
Stakes levels
Section titled “Stakes levels”| Tab | Big blind (USD) | Examples |
|---|---|---|
Micro | 0.50 or less | 0.10/0.20, 0.25/0.50 |
Low | Above 0.50, under 4 | 0.50/1, 1/2 |
Mid | 4 to 20 | 2/4, 5/10, 10/20 |
High | Above 20 | 25/50 and up |
Based on how app version 1.5.19 groups tables. Which stakes run is up to the platform, and some levels may have no tables during off-peak hours.
Short Deck has no big blind and uses an ante instead, so it may be grouped differently from the table above. Go by what the app shows.
Reading the table list
Section titled “Reading the table list”Each table shows:
| Info | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Blinds | 0.50/1 is small blind/big blind; a third number, as in 1/2/4, means the table has a straddle; large amounts are abbreviated with K |
| Players | 4/6 means 4 players are seated at a 6-max table |
| Open seats | Open seats shows the number of empty seats; pick one with open seats if you want to sit down right away |
| Tags | Bomb means the table has Bomb Pots |
Short Deck tables show the Ante amount instead of small blind/big blind.
Sort order within a level
Section titled “Sort order within a level”When the list shows several table types, fast-fold (Pace) tables are listed first. Scroll down to find regular cash tables.
Filter and My games
Section titled “Filter and My games”Filter/Filter Tables: narrow the list by further criteria. Once applied, the button changes toFilteredto remind you the list is filtered. If you can’t find a table, check whether you forgot to clear a filter. My games: lists the tables you’re currently seated at. It’s the fastest way to switch when multi-tabling.
Tips for choosing a table
Section titled “Tips for choosing a table”Start at Micro if you’re new, and get used to the app and the pace of online play. You play far more hands per hour online than live, so swings get bigger too, and bankroll management matters more than picking the right table.
A common guideline is to keep at least 20 to 30 times the maximum buy-in for your level. Move down after a sustained losing stretch, and move up after winning consistently for a while.
What do Micro, Low, Mid and High mean on WPT Global?
They're grouped by big blind in US dollars. Micro is a big blind of 0.50 or less, Low is above 0.50 and under 4, Mid is 4 to 20, and High is above 20. For example, 0.25/0.50 is Micro, 1/2 is Low, and 5/10 is Mid.
Which stakes should a beginner start at?
Start at Micro. Tables with a big blind of $0.50 or less have small buy-ins, which is a good way to learn the app and the pace of online play. A common rule is to have at least 20 to 30 times the maximum buy-in for a level before moving up.
What does 1/2/4 mean in the blinds?
Small blind 1, big blind 2, straddle 4. Tables with a third number have a mandatory straddle, so the preflop price is double that of a regular table.
What is My games?
It lists the tables you're currently seated at, so you can switch quickly when multi-tabling.
