Fold, Check, Call, Raise: WPT Global action buttons and betting
When it’s your turn to act, action buttons appear at the bottom of the WPT Global table. There are six basic ones: Fold, Check, Call, Bet, Raise, and All-in, plus a bet slider and quick bet buttons for choosing your amount. The buttons change automatically to fit the situation. If a button is missing, it’s usually because the rules don’t allow that action, not because the app is broken.
The six basic actions
Section titled “The six basic actions”| Button | What it does | When it appears |
|---|---|---|
Fold | Give up your hand | You can fold any time |
Check | Pass without betting | Nobody has bet this round, or you’ve already matched the highest bet |
Call | Match the bet | Someone has bet before you. The button shows how much you need to add |
Bet | Make the first bet | Nobody has bet this round and you’re putting in the first chips |
Raise | Increase the bet | Someone has bet before you and you want to make it bigger |
All-in | Bet everything | Pushes all your chips on the table into the pot |
Why the buttons change
Section titled “Why the buttons change”The app only shows the actions the rules allow:
| What you see | Why |
|---|---|
Only All-in and Fold | You don’t have enough chips to call, so you can only go all-in or fold |
Only Call and Fold, no raise | Someone went all-in for less than a full raise and you’ve already acted this round, so you can’t raise again. See minimum raise rules |
| A raise option in the big blind or straddle seat preflop | Everyone before you only called, so when it’s your turn you can check or raise. See Straddle |
Choosing your bet size
Section titled “Choosing your bet size”When you tap Bet or Raise, use these two tools to set the amount:
- Bet slider: drag to adjust the amount. The far left is the minimum allowed right now, and the far right is all-in.
- Quick bet buttons: fill in a fraction of the pot with one tap. The defaults are 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, and full pot, and you can customize them in table settings. See table settings.
In Omaha (PLO) there’s a Pot button that fills in the maximum bet allowed at that moment. See Omaha rules.
Pre-select actions
Section titled “Pre-select actions”Before it’s your turn, you can pre-select an action at the bottom of the screen, such as “check/fold” or “call”. When the action reaches you, the app carries it out right away without waiting. This saves time when you’re multi-tabling, but remember that you’re making the decision before you’ve seen what the players ahead of you do.
Running out of time: Time Extension
Section titled “Running out of time: Time Extension”Each action has a countdown. According to the WPT Global website, when your time is almost up, a Time Extension button appears, and you can pay a small fee for a bit more time to think. The number of extensions is limited, and if you use too many you’ll see Too much extra time used.
If you disconnect, the system adds time for you automatically first. See Table layout.
Desktop hotkeys
Section titled “Desktop hotkeys”On desktop you can use the third-party tool Jurojin Poker, which was developed with the approval of the WPT Global security team. According to PokerNews, it supports hotkeys for Fold, Check, Call, Bet, Raise, and up to 16 preset bet sizes, and it can also arrange your tables when multi-tabling.
Before using any third-party tool, make sure it’s within what WPT Global allows. Tools such as HUDs and real-time assistance (RTA) are prohibited.
What do Fold, Check, Call, and Raise mean?
Fold means giving up your hand. Check means passing the action to the next player without betting. Call means matching the current highest bet. Raise means increasing the bet after someone else has bet. If nobody has bet yet this round, putting in the first chips is a Bet.
Why do I only see All-in and Fold?
You don't have enough chips to match your opponent's bet. You can either go all-in or fold. There's no option to call part of the bet.
Why is the raise button missing so I can only call?
The most common reason is that someone went all-in for less than a full raise and you've already acted this round, so the rules don't let you raise again. See the minimum raise rules.
Can I use hotkeys on desktop?
Yes, through the third-party tool Jurojin Poker, which was developed with the approval of the WPT Global security team. It supports hotkeys for Fold, Check, Call, Bet, Raise, and preset bet sizes. There are no hotkeys on mobile.
