What are Splash tables on WPT Global? Cash games with a big ante every hand

Splash is a featured WPT Global cash game: before each hand, everyone at the table posts a larger-than-usual ante into the pot. The pot is big from the first card, there’s more incentive to fight for it, and the action is much livelier than at a regular table.

The official WPT Global website lists “3 Blind”, “Bomb Pot” and “Big Ante” as the platform’s featured table types. Big Ante, like Splash, is a bigger-ante format and is likely the same kind of table; go by the name shown in the app lobby.

  • The lobby’s game types include a Splash tab.
  • Both Hold’em (NLHE) and Short Deck may have Splash versions, depending on which tables are open in the lobby.
  • In the table list, Splash tables show the Buy In amount rather than the small blind/big blind shown for regular tables.

In your personal stats (My stats), Splash also has its own tab, counted separately from regular NLHE. See VPIP and PFR explained.

Apart from the big ante on every hand, the rules are the same as regular Hold’em. See WPT Global Texas Hold’em rules.

Both involve a big ante, but they’re different:

  • Splash: a big ante on every hand, with normal preflop betting.
  • Bomb Pot: comes up only every so often; everyone posts an ante, preflop is skipped, and the flop is dealt straight away.

With everyone’s antes already in the pot, stealing it pays more, so you should play wider preflop ranges than at a regular table instead of waiting for premium hands. Everyone else is thinking the same way, so expect lots of action and bigger swings.

Bring a somewhat bigger bankroll than you would for a regular table at the same stakes. If you’re new, get solid at regular tables before trying Splash.

What is Splash on WPT Global?

A cash game where every player posts a large ante before each hand. Because everyone's ante goes in first, the pot starts bigger than at a regular table, players are more willing to get involved, and the pace is faster.

What's the difference between Splash and a Bomb Pot?

Splash has a big ante on every hand and preflop betting works as usual. A Bomb Pot only comes up every so often; everyone posts an ante, preflop is skipped, and play starts on the flop.

Are Splash tables good for beginners?

Not as a first stop. The big ante makes every pot bigger, you need to play wider preflop ranges than at a regular table, and swings are larger. Get comfortable at regular NLHE tables first.

Is the Big Ante on the official website the same as Splash?

The official website lists 3 Blind, Bomb Pot and Big Ante as WPT Global's featured table types. Big Ante shares Splash's idea of a bigger ante, so it's likely a different name for the same kind of table. Go by what the app lobby shows.
