WPT Global tournament prizes: prize pool, the money and payouts

All WPT Global tournament prize info is on the event page’s Rewards tab: the total prize pool, how many places get paid, and what percentage each place takes. Check it before you play so you know how deep you need to go to cash.

FieldMeaning
Total PrizepoolThe prize pool portion of every entrant’s buy-in, added up
Total BountyBounty events only, counted separately
In the MoneyThe paid places, shown as a number of players or a percentage
RankingsFinishing place
PercentageThat place’s share of the total prize pool
PrizeThe actual amount

Not all of the buy-in goes to the prize pool. A regular event’s buy-in is split between the prize pool and the service fee. Bounty events split it further, for example Registration Fee: 10 Prizepool + 10 Bounty + 2 Staff Fee means that of a 22 buy-in, 10 goes to the prize pool, 10 becomes the bounty on your head, and 2 is the platform fee (the numbers are just an example).

During late registration (Late Reg), players keep joining, so the prize pool and every payout keep changing. If you see (Registration is still ongoing, rankings and prizes may differ.), the numbers aren’t final yet.

Once registration closes, the total prize pool and payouts are locked in.

For the full rules see bounty rules. This section only covers prizes.

Bounty (Bounty) events pay in two ways:

  1. Place prizes: same as a regular event. Finish in the money and you get your share of the prize pool.
  2. Bounties: every player you eliminate pays you the bounty on their head, whether or not you’re in the money yet. The event info says … bounty for each player eliminated, which is how much you get per knockout.

Events tagged Super Hunter are progressive bounty events: when you knock someone out, the bounty on your own head goes up too (the event info says Raise in value by … for each player eliminated). The exact split follows that event’s description.

In bounty events, the Players tab adds a bounty column showing each player’s current bounty value.

When you’re eliminated or the event ends, a results window pops up:

FieldMeaning
Your finishing positionYour final place
PAYOUT / PrizeYour place prize
BOUNTYBounties you collected
TICKETTickets won (satellites etc.)
Total valueTotal value of your cash plus tickets and other prizes
Not in the money. You didn’t cash
You have been eliminatedYou’re out

If you bust during late registration, you’ll see Your finishing position will be determined when registration closes: your place is calculated once registration closes.

Some large events run in stages (Day 1, Day 2, or multiple starting flights). When you advance you’ll see You qualified for the next stage of the tournament. along with the start time of the next stage. You don’t get paid out at this point; you carry your chips into the next stage.

Satellites and some promotions award tickets instead of cash. Tickets go into the Backpack on your profile; when registering for the target event, choose the ticket as payment. See tickets and backpack.

For the other fields on the tournament page, see tournament lobby.

What does In the Money mean?

The range of finishing places that win a prize. For example, if In the Money is the top 15%, every player who finishes in the top 15% gets paid, and higher places get more. Finishing one spot outside gets you nothing; that spot is known as the bubble.

Does the prize pool grow with more players?

Yes. The Total Prizepool is made up of the prize pool portion of every buy-in, so more entries mean a bigger pool. Until late registration closes, the prize pool and payouts can keep changing.

I've been eliminated, so why don't I have a finishing position yet?

If you bust during late registration, new players can still join, so your position can't be set until registration closes. The results window shows Your finishing position will be determined when registration closes.

What do I win in a satellite?

Satellite prizes are usually tickets to bigger events. They go into the Backpack on your profile, and you can use them when registering for the target event.
