What is Pace Hold'em? WPT Global fast-fold poker explained

Pace (Pace Hold’em) is WPT Global’s fast-fold Texas Hold’em. The in-app rules page calls it Extreme Speed Mode: if you don’t want to play a hand, press Quick fold and you get your next hand right away, without waiting for everyone else to finish.

Select Pace under game types in the lobby to find it. In your personal stats it has its own column, which may be labeled NLHE PACE or Zoom.

The rules page lists two features:

FeatureWhat it means
Quick FoldFast-fold at any time and go straight to the next hand
Random Table AssignmentAfter every hand, all players are randomly reseated

Everything else is the same as regular No-Limit Hold’em: small blind, big blind, four betting rounds from preflop to the river, and identical hand rankings.

Pace tables have a few buttons you won’t see at a regular table:

ButtonWhat it does
Quick foldFast-fold. You can press it even before it’s your turn
New handGet your next hand immediately
ObserveStay at this table and watch how the hand ends
Check / FoldRegular check and fold

After a quick fold, the app asks Would you like a new hand or would you like to observe this hand?. Pick New hand if you want volume; pick Observe if you want to see how your opponents play it out.

The screen also shows stats for your current session, for example Total: 120 hands, Game Duration: 30 min: how many hands you’ve played and for how long.

You play far more hands per hour in Pace than at a regular table, because you never wait for others to finish a hand. That means lots of practice and no boredom, but it comes at a cost:

  • Reads are hard. Your opponents change every hand, so you can’t build up a picture of any one player.
  • Opponents play tighter overall. Everyone is waiting for good cards and quick-folds the rest, so hands that go to the pot preflop are stronger on average than at a regular table, and blind steals work less often.
  • It’s easy to play too fast. High volume and fast pace mean losses pile up quickly when you’re tilting.

If you’re new, get comfortable with the flow at regular cash tables first, then move to Pace for volume once you have a feel for starting hand ranges.

Is Pace the same as Zoom or Rush?

Same concept: they are all fast-fold poker. After you fold you don't wait; you move straight to a new table with a new hand. Each site uses its own name, and WPT Global calls it Pace.

Can I fold before it's my turn?

Yes. In Pace you can press Quick fold at any time without waiting for your turn. You leave the hand immediately and get the next one.

Do I keep playing with the same group of players in Pace?

No. After every hand all players are randomly reassigned to seats, so it's hard to target specific opponents, and harder for others to target you.

Are the blinds and rules in Pace the same as regular Hold'em?

Yes. Small blind, big blind, four betting rounds and hand rankings are all the same as regular No-Limit Hold'em. The only differences are fast folding and reseating after every hand.
